THE Ministry of Transport and Communications has been working to ensure smooth and accessible travel for people affected by the natural disaster and facing difficulties due to the earthquake. Both the aviation and maritime transport sectors have been operating in a timely manner, with daily updates issued to inform the public.

In the maritime sector, to ensure regular transport of passengers and goods between Mandalay and Sagaing, from 31 March to 6 April 2025, a total of 902 cargo vehicles and 551 small passenger vehicles were transported free of charge by private-owned vessels and barges between the Shwe Kyetyet Jetty in Mandalay and the Sagaing Jetty. From 7 April onwards, cargo vehicles carrying relief supplies continue to be transported free of charge, while the remaining private cargo vehicles will be transported according to the established rates. This helped alleviate travel difficulties caused by the Yadanabon and Inwa bridges.

In the aviation sector, international aircraft bringing relief supplies, provisions, medicines, and rescue teams began arriving daily on 29 March 2025 at Yangon International Airport, Nay Pyi Taw International Airport, and Mandalay International Airport. As of today, a total of 92 planes have landed, carrying 1,518.289 tonnes of relief supplies. Ground services for these international flights are being provided free of charge by Myanmar National Airlines at Yangon International Airport, by the Shaysaung Airport Service Company at Nay Pyi Taw International Airport, and by MC-Jalux Airport Services at Mandalay International Airport.

Moreover, necessary repairs and upgrades have been made to the Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw airports. Domestic flights resumed on 4 April 2025 at Mandalay International Airport and on 5 April 2025 at Nay Pyi Taw International Airport. As a result, Myanmar National Airlines, Mann Yadanbon Airlines, Mingalar Airlines, and Air Thanlwin Airlines are operating regular flights. Within four days, 50 flights were successfully operated. — Ministry of Transport and Communications/MKKS
