Protestors were back on the streets in Paris and other French cities for the 12th straight weekend.
People wearing 'yellow vests' gathered in the Republic plaza in central Paris protesting against President Emmanuel Macron's policies.
Local media say that since the protests began in November about 1,700 demonstrators and 1,000 security police have been injured.
In January, Macron began touring provincial areas to hold meetings with local leaders to address the situation.
Some opinion polls show a recovery in his approval ratings which had hit a record low.
Still about 58,600 demonstrators, which is lower than a week ago, took part in Saturday's protests across the country, according to the interior ministry.—NHK
