The 8th day of Pyithu Hluttaw’s 15th regular session was held yesterday, with raising queries to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population and the Ministry of Home Affairs, and heard an amendment bill for the Law Protecting Privacy and Security of Citizens.
Squatter issues from internal migrations
MP U Sein Bo from Myawady constituency asked about issuing family registration certificates for the families of Myanmar citizens who are regarded as the squatters.
Deputy Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing replied those who are illegally living on the lands of any organization are regarded as squatters and they cannot receive family registration certificates. However, the ministry could issue relevant certificates and identity cards to internal migrants in line with the existing rules and regulations.
MP U Kham Khant Htan from Tonzang constituency asked about releasing the names of ethnic races under the code number 914 for ‘others’—people who are not included in the official 135 ethnic groups of Myanmar in accordance with under the 2014 Population and Housing Census programme.
The Deputy Minister also replied that the issue must be resolved in coordination with relevant ministries, ethnic leaders, historians, relevant local governments with the approval of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw.
MP U Mya Sein from Dagon Seikkan Myothit (Seikkan) constituency asked for running an office of the Department of Labour.
The Deputy Minister replied that it was not included in the organizational structure, and labour affairs of Dagon Seikkan Myothit (Seikkan) Township could be handled at the DoL office in Dagon Myothit (South) Township.
Queries to Ministry of Home Affairs
MP U Win Myint Aung from Dabayin constituency asked about promoting the status of Saipyin police station in his constituency and constructing staff apartments in 2020-2021 financial year.
Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Major General Aung Thu replied that the process is underway to promote status of local police station and to construct new buildings there.
MP Daw Myint Myint Soe (a) Daw May Soe from Botahtaung constituency asked for establishing a complaint centre for easy communications between the Myanmar Police Force and the common people. The Deputy Minister replied that MPF is receiving complaints through its hotlines, its website and 333 DEO sub-accounts of Toolkit created by the Anti-Corruption Unit under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
MP U Kyaw Soe from Bamauk constituency asked to construct two units of new four-storey- quadruplex apartments at the police station in his constituency in 2020-2021 financial year, MP Daw Mya Khwar Nyo Oo from Shwetaung constituency about promoting the status of auxiliary fire stations in her constituency and MP Daw Thandar from Einme constituency about operating a local fire station in Ywathit village of her constituency.
The questions were replied by Deputy Minister Maj-Gen Aung Thu.
Amendment bill for the Law Protecting Privacy and Security of Citizens
Pyithu Hluttaw Justice and Legal Affairs Committee Chairman U Tin Htwe submitted an amendment bill for the Law Protecting Privacy and Security of Citizens, and the report on this bill was read out by committee member Daw Mar Mar Khaing.
Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U T Khun Myat invited the names of MP who want to offer recommendations on this bill.
