A ceremony to honour an outstanding Buddhist monk was held in YeU Township, Sagaing Region yesterday.

Firstly, the congregation opened the ceremony by reciting the Namo Tassa three times. Next, gold medalist of the Myanmar traditional performing arts competition vocalist Khin Poe Panchi honoured the title recipient monk by singing a song. Afterwards, the congregation received the Five Precepts from a senior Buddhist monk.

The township administrator and an official from the Department of Religious Affairs the conferred Abhi Daja Agga Maha Ratha Guru Agga Maha Pandita Maha Saddhamma Jotika Daja title and Thakya Thiha Dhamma Sariya Pali Paragu title on Bhaddanta Ottama Nyanmar Vivansa, Presiding Sayadaw pf Mogaung Monastery and Vice Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee.

Donation of cash by the Regional Minister for Electricity, Industry and Road Transport U Than Nyunt Win and wife Daw Cho Cho, and the benefactors followed. The congregation shared the merits gained and the ceremony came to an end with three times recitation of “Buddha Sasanan Ciran Tittahtu,” (May the Sasana endure forever).—Than Than (IPRD)
