The foreign, defense and energy ministers, as well as a deputy prime minister in charge of developing the Far East, have retained their jobs.

Economics Minister Maxim Oreshkin, who has been in charge of promoting economic cooperation with Japan, was replaced by Maxim Reshetnikov.

Forty-year-old Reshetnikov served as governor of the mid-western Perm region from 2017.

Putin told the ministers to do their best to achieve his policy goals.

The president's policies focus on developing the economy and improving welfare and education.

Putin apparently wants the new cabinet to achieve solid results so he can have public support as he presses ahead with constitutional reforms.
