RUSSIA has proposed to buy Myanmar’s fresh mango and dried mango, according to the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organ­ization under the Ministry of Commerce.

The Russia-Myanmar Business Council proposed to buy Myanmar’s fresh mango and dried mangoes starting this year. They show readiness to link with mango suppliers directly, MTPO stated.

Russia is willing to purchase Myan­mar’s Seintalone mango, which is con­sidered the best mango variety available in Myanmar. Therefore, MTPO notified interested mango suppliers and com­panies to send the information of the contact person, number and address to the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, to export fresh man­go and dried mango to Russia.

There are over a hundred varieties of mangoes in Myanmar. Of them, Sein­talone and Shwehintha varieties are pri­marily exported to China, Singapore and some European countries. The annual production of mango is estimated at over two million tonnes, the Ministry of Com­merce’s data indicated. — ASH/KK
