Stationery, backpacks provided to 737 schools in Yangon Region

A ceremony to provide stationery and backpacks to primary school students in 737 schools in 13 Townships in Yangon Region was held at an office of Yangon Region Government on December 22.


The occasion was presented by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, Regional Minister for Social Affairs U Naing Ngan Lin, China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation Myanmar Country Director Ms. Lin Yuan and departmental officials. At the ceremony, Yangon Region Chief Minsiter U Phyo Min Thein and China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation Myanmar Country Director Ms. Lin Yuan gave remarks. 


The provision of Panda pack and stationery was started in Myanmar from 2018 and a total of 350,000 students were provided with the backpacks and stationery. In 2020-2021 academic year, a total of 69820 students from 737 schools were provided with stationery including 26 items and backpacks with the help of Yangon Region Government and Regional Department of Education. 


The schools in Hlegu, Taikkyi, Htatabin, Thanlyin, Kyauktan, Thongwa, Kayan, Seikkyi Kanaungto, Cocokyun, Thaketa, Hmawbi, Dagon Seikkan and Kungyangon townships will be given backpacks and stationery.
