Strong winds tore off the roofs of several houses in Zigon Township, Nattalin District, Bago Region, at around 8:30 p.m. on 11 May.

A total of 32 houses were damaged due to strong winds, including 10 in Najichaung Village, Tepinkan Village Tract, and 22 others in Hlepugon, Spehmyuang, Taungyekan and Alekone villages in Spehmyaung Village Tract in the Township.

Tragically, one person was killed by a lightning strike in Letpanpin Village, Chaungsauk Village Tract.

Following the incident, 116 residents from the affected 32 households were relocated to the homes of relatives. The evacuation was carried out by local Village Administration Body members and village elders under the supervision of the Township Disaster Management Committee.—Tint Swe (IPRD)
