THE Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement discussed priority sectors of National Strategic Plan (2020-2024) for Youth Policy via videoconferencing on 4 September.

Union Minister Dr Win Myat Aye, in his capacity as Chairperson of Myanmar Youth Affairs Committee, Deputy Minister, Social Affairs Ministers, in their abilities as the chairpersons of regions and states Youth Affairs Committees including Nay Pyi Taw Council, the Director-General and the Deputy Director-General for the Department of Social Welfare, heads of regions and states Social Welfare and members of regions and states Youth Affairs Committees including Nay Pyi Taw Council joined the meeting.

During the meeting, the Union Minister said that the path for the rights, existence and development of youths is paved and the youths need to understand the history of the past and to manage the time effectively for the future development. Although today's youths have freedom of speech, they can do just in the scope of existing law.

These laws will safely create a condition to enhance youth participation and equality. To achieve such a situation, the officials are striving to implement a real democratic government that can ensure the rights of individuals.

Only then, a Constitution which is suitable to build a genuine Federal Democratic Union will be in place for the country.

The ministry also makes concerted efforts for the emergence of policy, law, strategic plan and procedures which can guarantee the rights of individuals.

The current youth policy can entirely create the rights of youths, and there is a duty to implement strategic plans based on that policy. The governmental departments, social organizations and the people need to cooperate in carrying out this duty.

He also urged the youths to choose the programmes to be prioritized among the 16 sectors of the Youth Policy.

Then, the Social Affairs Ministers, in their capacities as the chairpersons of regions and states Youth Affairs Committees, including Nay Pyi Taw Council briefed their respective cooperation works with the youths.

The young members of Myanmar Youth Affairs Committee also presented the selected sectors according to the strategic plan, Costed Action Plan and challenges in their respective regions and the Director-General of Social Welfare and other officials joined the discussions.

The Union Minister said the cooperation between the Nay Pyi Taw Council, regions and states governments and the youths become stronger during COVID-19 pandemic and the detailed facts for Costed Action Plan will be discussed again, and the ministry informs to the relevant regions and states governments to organize districts and townships level committees.

The appropriate chances are in place during COVID-19 outbreak, and there is also a close relationship between the government and the youths, said the Union Minister, adding the allocation of budgets to implement the facts in the strategic plan by negotiating with the relevant ministries, Nay Pyi Taw Council, regions and states governments.
