Thai visitors throng Myanmar

Nay Pyi Taw 8 May

The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism has been making arrangements for globetrotters to visit Myanmar in a safe and secure manner. The ministry also arranged some travel itineraries for foreign visitors who enter the country through border checkpoints.

Under the management of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and Myanmar Mystery Land Co., Ltd, 49 tourists from Thailand visited Myanmar in their own motorcars by crossing the Hteekhi border gate on 21 April. Their travel itinerary took nine days and included visits to Dawei, Mawlamyine, Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw, bagan, Mandalay, Inle, Namsang, Kengtung and Tachilek. They left for Thailand via the Tachilek border gate on 30 April.

Some globetrotters are continuously entering the country by car or motorbike or bicycle in either groups or crossing alone through border checkpoints to visit significant tourist attraction sites in the country. As this is open season in Myanmar and some restrictions were eased to attract more tourists to the country.—MOHT
