Thirteen Myanmar migrant workers repatriated from Thailand

Tachilek 15 January

Thirteen Myanmar migrant workers were sent back to Myanmar by Thai authorities at the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge-2 in Tachilek, Shan State yesterday.

Some Myanmar migrant workers were repatriated due to illegal stay in Thailand without proper documents and the expiry of their border passes. The migrant workers were sent back home safely by the Township General Administration Department, the Immigration and Population Department, Anti-trafficking Police Force, the Department of Labor and members of Caring and Negotiating Committee for Myanmar Citizens.

This year saw a total of 95 people handed over to Myanmar by Thai authorities in January whereas last year saw 1,234 people repatriated.
