A tourism model village is being developed near Nay Pyi Taw, aiming to help visitors to explore the knowledge of the local area during their vacation, said Myanmar Tourism Federation’s vice chair U Naung Naung Han.

It is Nyaungpintha village, located at Magyipin village tract in Tatkon Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, about an hour’s drive from the Nay Pyi Taw hotel zone.

“MTF has set up a tourism village near Tatkon for tourists to take a half-day or a day trip. Houses in the village were washed away in the flood. MTF drafted a village plan and reconstructed 23 houses. We have already transferred the houses to the owners. People can visit the village and explore their culture,” said U Naung Naung Han.

At present, the community tourism has been under creation and visitors can enjoy local foods along with recreation activities at the village in future, he said.

“There is a small creek and a crop field by the village. We plan to develop a programme where visitors can work on villagers’ activities by themselves. International tourists have now visited Nay Pyi Taw, and they can feel the village’s taste just by taking an hour’s drive from the hotel zone,” he added.

MTF has aimed to continue developing similar villages if the ongoing project achieves, he said. — Htet Oo Maung/ZS
