An opening ceremony of a training course for auxiliary midwives was held at the meeting room of a public hospital in Putao, Kachin State this morning.
The training course was jointly organized by the Department of Public Health under the Ministry of Health and Sports and Medical Action Myanmar under its programme titled, “Access to Health Fund”. At the ceremony, Township Administrator U Thant Sin gave an opening speech. Township Medical Superintendent Dr. Aung Naing Win said that auxiliary midwives are a basic foundation in providing healthcare services for pregnant women as achieving reproductive healthcare.
Next, Project In-charge of Medical Action Myanmar Dr. Hein Htet Naung said the course was conducted under “Access to Health Fund” and it is estimated to cost more than Ks. 30 million. He continued that Medical Action Myanmar will have a close support under the supervision of the Department of Public Health.
The six-month training course is being attended by 30 auxiliary midwives from Putao, Nagmon and Machanbaw Townships.—Phong Kang (Putao)
