UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradica­tion Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade are continued effec­tively by the law.

On 23 and 24 April, the combined teams impounded two trucks (estimated value of K71 million), heading to Yangon from Myawady, car­rying 15 kinds of industrial materials worth K32.366 million without official doc­uments in front of Bago Uni­versity, a Mitsubishi Fuso truck (approximately K35 million), travelling from Mawlamyine to Yangon, car­rying two kinds of industrial materials valued at K17.154 million without official doc­uments on the Bago detour and three tractor heads with three trailers (approx­imately K210 million), trav­elling from Mawlamyine to Yangon, carrying eight kinds of industrial materials worth K43.189 million near Shwethanlwin tollgate in Phayagyi. The action was conducted as per Customs procedures.

The Illegal Trade Erad­ication Steering Committee reported 13 arrests on 23 and 24 April, seizing illegal goods worth approximately K408 million. — MNA/MKKS
