Two people have been killed in a shooting near a synagogue in eastern Germany. Police have detained a man in connection with the shooting.
German media are reporting that the incident took place in the city of Halle on Wednesday.
Reports say a grenade was also thrown into a Jewish cemetery near the synagogue.
Local media footage shows a man wearing a helmet getting out of a car and firing several times around him.
Some media outlets say another shooting incident took place at a nearby town, about 15 kilometers from Halle.
Police are warning residents that several people may have been involved in carrying out the attack.
Wednesday is the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur.
