A cargo aircraft operated by Aerostan Airline carrying hu­manitarian aid from the Unit­ed Arab Emirates (UAE) ar­rived at Yangon International Airport on the morning of 10 April. The shipment included 65 packages of medicines and temporary shelters, weighing a total of 24,860 kilogrammes and was intended for distribution to earthquake-affected areas in Myanmar.

 

Likewise, another cargo flight from the UAE Air Force arrived in Yangon on the after­noon of 9 April with 36 packages of food supplies and temporary shelters, weighing 33,582 kilo­grammes. These relief items were donated to support people in regions impacted by the re­cent major earthquake in Man­dalay Region.

 

Yangon Region Chief Minis­ter U Soe Thein, regional minis­ters, officials of Department of Strategic Studies and Training under Ministry of Foreign Af­fairs and Disaster Management Department under Ministry of Social Welfare Relief and Re­settlement welcomed the aid at the airport.

 

Following the arrival, the chief minister and officials in­spected the relief cargo and met the UAE team, expressing grat­itude for the donations and pre­senting commemorative gifts.

 

The relief items were load­ed onto vehicles by Tatmadaw personnel, Yangon City Devel­opment Committee staff and local logistics teams. Under the supervision of the Yangon Region Government, the aid is now transported to the quake-hit areas for distribution. — MNA/KZL
