Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi took part in the virtual 11th ASEAN Education Ministers (ASED) Meeting hosted by the Philippines yesterday afternoon.


At the online meeting, the Union Minister discussed challenges of governments and education departments in reshaping the current education systems to be able to overcome possible issues in the future as the COVID-19 pandemic has great impacts on the education sector across the world.

He also talked about education TV channel of the Ministry of Education, online courses for capacity-building of teachers through Myanmar Digital Education System, plans for creating lessons on broadcast media, and preparations for the establishment of Myanmar Open University.


The Union Minister presented the works for drafting National Education Strategic Plan (2021-2030) based on the 2020 Election Manifesto of the National League for Democracy, the Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan (2018-2030), the Sustainable Development Goals (2030), the National Education Law (2014), the Science, Technology and Innovation Law (2018), the Comprehensive Education Sector Review (2016), the recommendations in Midterm Review on Myanmar National Education Strategic Plan (2019), and other suggestions from the stakeholders.


He added that close cooperation would be made to implement results and seven points of priority from SEAMEO meeting in June 2020, and to promote digital education for quality learning in 21st Century.
