Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye separately visited the Chairperson of National Human Rights Commission of Korea and the Minister for Gender Equality and Family during his visit in the Republic of Korea.

While meeting with Ms Choi Young-ae, the Chairperson of National Human Rights Commission of Korea, Union Minister Dr Win Myat Aye held talks on the efforts of Myanmar in democratic reform and human rights in accordance with UN conventions such as Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) that monitors the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), signing of Myanmar in the Optional Protocol to the CRC on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict (OPAC) at the 74th UN General Assembly, the cooperation of ministry with Myanmar National Human Rights Commission in taking actions against human rights abuse, implementation on the recommendations for youth training schools and departments, potentials for development in multi-sector cooperation between Myanmar and ROK, collaboration between National Human Rights Commission of Korea and Myanmar, cooperation with international communities including ASEAN in the issue of displaced persons from Rakhine State, and strengthening cooperation between ASEAN countries and ROK in the New Southern Policy.

In making discussions with Minister of Gender Equality and Family Ms Lee Jung-ok, the Union Minister exchange views on women’s participation in democratic reform of Myanmar, gender equality and the role of women in the Union Peace Conference —21st Century Panglong, the efforts of government in establishing a democracy federal union, the formation of Myanmar National Committee for Women’s Affairs with the participation of government ministries, women organizations and civil societies, prevention against gender based violence, justice for the victims in gender based violence, rehabilitation works, vocational trainings, implementation of joint communique on Prevention and Response to Conflict-Related Sexual Violence, Protection Women against Women in Conflicts after signing with UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General Ms Pramila Patten, women development programs, the role of young people and youth policy, the enactment of Child Law (2019) in Myanmar, teenager issues and possible cooperation between the two ministries.
