A ceremony to present the flag to ensure success to the athletes representing the Ministry of Construction at the Fifth National Sports Festival 2024 was held today at the Ministry’s conference hall in Nay Pyi Taw. The event was attended by Union Minister U Myo Thant, Deputy Minister U Win Pe, officials, team managers, coaches, and athletes.
In his speech, Union Minister U Myo Thant noted that athletes from various regions, states, and ministries would participate in the festival. He announced that the Ministry of Construction would be competing in six sports disciplines. He encouraged the athletes to participate with full sportsmanship, emphasizing that success in the competition would not only enhance the ministry’s reputation but also contribute to the development of the nation’s sports sector.
The Union minister also highlighted that the National Sports Festival aims to promote long-term health and fitness, improve the healthcare and sports sectors, foster unity among citizens, and cultivate national athletes who can bring honour to the country. He urged the participants to make the most of this rare opportunity, striving with determination, dedication, and perseverance.
Following the speech, the Union minister presented the flag to ensure success to the Ministry of Construction’s sports teams. Director-General U Kyaw Kaung Cho of the Department of Bridges accepted the flag on behalf of the delegation, accompanied by the athletes.
The Ministry of Construction’s delegation for the Fifth National Sports Festival consists of 130 members, including athletes and officials, who will compete in six sports disciplines: volleyball, football, futsal, open-class golf, Sepak Takraw, and athletics events. — MNA/TMT
