Visitors flock to Alaungtaw Kathapa National Park during New Year holidays

Alaungtaw Kathapa National Park in Yinmarbin Township, Sagaing Region is packed with visitors from various corners of the country during public holidays, according to the board of trustees of Alaungtaw Pathapa Pagoda.

The Kapaing-Thabeiksae Road that leads to Alaungtaw Pathapa National Park was opened to traffic on 3 January. The number of travellers to Alaungtaw Kathapa National Park is low during the remaining period but arrival of pilgrims to the site is increasing significantly during public holidays, an official from the Alaungtaw Pathapa Pagoda board of trustees said.

“The road to Alaungtaw Kathapa National Park was inaugurated four days as scheduled because the weather condition was very good. The number of visitors to Alaungtaw Kathapa National Park increased considerably during the New Year holidays. Most of the travellers are day-trippers who came to Alaungtaw Kathapa National Park by their motorcars and motorbikes via Monywa,” he added.
