Visitors flock to Inle Lake for New Year holidays

2 January

During the New Year holidays, a large number of local visitors and tourists visited the Inle Lake in Nyaungshwe Township.

Some tourists drove to Inle Lake through the Maing Thauk Bridge, some entered the lake through the Nampan market, while others arrived at the lake from the Khaung Daing naturehot spring.

While some locals vacationed on the lake with their friends, families, and colleagues, some visitors opted for inbound tours arranged by travel companies. The higher number of visitors this year led to difficulty in renting of motor boats.

Tourist attractions at Inle Lake include the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the Alodaw Pauk Pagoda in Nampan Village, workshops of silversmiths and traditional handlooms, the Shwe Indein Pagoda, the Maing Thauk Bridge, and the Khaung Daing hot spring.— Sai Aebe (Nyaungshwe)
