UNION Minister for Infor­mation U Maung Maung Ohn attended a work coordination meeting on holding of a fund­raising variety show for the victims of the Mandalay earth­quake yesterday.

 

In his speech, the Union minister said that currently, ef­forts are underway to clear de­bris and carry out rehabilitation activities in the quake-affected areas. Therefore, the artistes should make efforts to uplift and support the people who have been affacted by the quake.

 

The Head of State has also instructed that the buildings must be constructed to with­stand earthquakes, to prevent such severe impacts from oc­curring again. It is also impor­tant to recognize that, in times of natural disasters, artistes in the country have consistently contributed by using their tal­ents to raise funds and provide support through their art.

 

It is arranged to hold the event on 10, 11, and 12 May at the National Theatre in Yangon, and all should to make it a suc­cessful one.

 

Afterwards, attendees co­ordinated the discussion, and the Union minister concluded the meeting.

 

The fundraising variety show will be from 5:30 pm to 10 pm on 10-12 May at the National Theatre in Yangon. — MNA/ KTZH
