YANGON Region Gold Entrepreneurs Association (YGEA) is endeavouring to issue an International Standards Organization (IS0) certification as stated by YGEA Chair U Myo Myint.

In order to issue ISO certification, YGEA is preparing to open an ISO laboratory, establish a company, and import gold purity testing machines simultaneously.

“Since gold was designated as essential goods, it must meet international transaction standards. We want Myanmar gold to be recognized to meet gold quality and efficiency, assuring this system to meet international benchmarks. We will continue the process only after receiving ISO 17025 and ISO 17065 certification,” said U Myo Myint.

At present, gold testing machines will be imported to open a laboratory. Foreign expatriates will also be hired to handle those machines. — ASH/KK
