Belarusian Foreign Minis­ter Mr Maxim Ryzhenkov and his delegation visited the Bogy­oke market in Yangon yester­day afternoon alongside Yan­gon Region ministers, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives from the Belarus Honourary Consulate in Yangon. The del­egation explored traditional handicrafts, ethnic attire and gold-and-silver-embroidered products on sale.

 

The Belarusian Foreign Minister and the delegation then toured Yangon City Hall, the Secretariat and Kandaw­gyi Park in a motorcade. They observed the renovation works at the Karaweik Palace in the park.

 

Later, the delegation vis­ited the Shwedagon Pagoda in Bahan Township, accompanied by Yangon Region Chief Minis­ter U Soe Thein and members of the Pagoda Board of Trus­tees. They paid homage to the pagoda and studied its histori­cal background and pilgrimage guidebooks.

 

Continuing the visit, the Belarusian Foreign Minister and the delegation signed the guestbook and the Pagoda Board of Trustees presented them with a commemorative Shwedagon Pagoda picture and a record book as souvenirs. — MNA/KZL
