For Floriculture to Flourish in Myanmar

RECENTLY I happened to watch on MNTV, a program about “growing” Lily flowers on a commercial scale by a film academy award winning actor. I was very pleased with the program because I had all along advocated, higher investments in the “Green Investment Opportunities” of Horticulture (which includes Floriculture) together with Agriculture, and Aquaculture, to further enhance these Sectors’ contribution to the economic development of Myanmar.

ABRIDGE crossing the Nantmyitkha Creek in Waingmaw Township, Kachin State was built by the Bridge Construction Group No-1 un-der the Ministry of Construc-tion. The 260 ft long old bridge between mileposts 480/7 and 481/0 on the Mandalay-Lash-io-Bhamo-Myitkyina Road was replaced with new structure as local people, pedestrians and ve-hicles suffered traffic congestion and experienced travel delays. The Ministry of Construction de-cided to build a new bridge over the creek with the funds from the local government.
