24.5 acres of illegally grown poppy plantations have been destroyed by local authority in Ngape Township of Magway Region since December 25 this year.

With the aim of boosting the income of rural people and their socio-economic status, loans for emerald green project were dispensed to members of village emerald green project committee in Kaung Nyo Village in Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region on December 28. The disbursement of loans is the first of its kind in the village.
